    The name Shoreline has stuck with the city over the years even though it was originally given to the school district in the area back in 1944 due to its boundaries stretching from “shore to shore” (Puget Sound to Lake Washington) and “line to line” (the old Seattle city limit of 85th St. to the Snohomish County Line). Shoreline is divided into 14 different neighborhoods ranging from Richmond Beach in the northwest to Briarcrest in the southeast. With a current population of over 54,000 residents, Shoreline has rejuvenated and expanded over recent years to offer numerous amenities including a wide variety of supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, and fitness centers. Shoreline also offers a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities with over 400 acres of park land and open space including hiking trails, saltwater shoreline, playgrounds, and a botanical garden.
